Our Projects
Project : Gaja Flood Relief Programme
Rotary Club of Madurai West contributed ₹1,00,000 (Rupees One Lakh) towards the Gaja Flood Relief Programme. The donation was handed over to DGN Rtn Chockalingam at Pudukkottai, supporting the victims during a time of great need.
Project : Health Support for Expectant Mothers
Distributed essential health supplements, masks, and gloves to expectant mothers through local Primary Health Centers, promoting maternal wellness and preventive care.
Project : Women Empowerment Through Motivation The secret of success
Organized a motivational session to empower college-going girls, helping them build self-confidence, step out of their comfort zones, and pursue their ambitions.
Project : Palliative Care in Rural Madurai
In partnership with a Rotary Club in the United States, this $48,024 project aimed at delivering free and low-cost palliative care in rural Madurai. Rotary donated one ambulance and one utility car to Glanis Hospital, supporting doctors and nurses to serve with world-class care.
Project : Maternal Health Awareness – Vallaikappu
Conducted a Vallaikappu ritual and health awareness session for expectant mothers in Tamil Nadu. Organized at Pudur Urban Primary Health Centre, the event included health tips from doctors and nutritious meals, celebrating the journey of motherhood.
Project : Support for Specially-Abled Children
During Independence Day at Sairam Special School, SS Colony, Madurai, the club donated essential items like a sewing machine, therapy tools, and play materials, helping children with special needs lead more fulfilling lives.
Project : RYLA – Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
Hosted a 3-day residential leadership program, “Destiny Drive – Accelerate Your Future,” at Divine Word, Vadipatti. 61 students from 10 colleges participated in 14 sessions that nurtured leadership, friendship, confidence, and life skills.
Project : Waterbody Restoration at Keeladi, Sivaganga
Restored a 22-acre waterbody that had been dry for over 50 years. A 2.5 km channel was built to connect the River Vaigai, and 7 acres were cleaned and deepened. Plans are also in place to develop a Miyawaki forest along the shore, promoting sustainability and water conservation.
Project : COVID-19 Response – RTPCR Machine Donation
Amid the COVID-19 crisis, Rotary Club of Madurai West swiftly donated an RTPCR machine to Government Medical Hospital, Madurai. Completed within 40 days, the project met urgent demands in rural areas. With support from DG Rtn. Dr. Zameer Pasha and PDG Janice, the project was handed over to the Hospital Dean on June 13, 2020, benefitting an estimated 5 million people.
